New Products in the Spring Boutique
It’s Spring! My favorite season. I love to see everything come back to life again-including our skin. As we shed those winter layers and stop hiding from the WV winter cold, it’s a good time to rejuvenate a skin care regimen. From getting rid of dead, dry skin of winter, to preparing for the ravaging effects of summer sun, we have several new products in the Spring Boutique that may meet your needs.
ZO Skin Health is always working to provide new and improved products. This spring they are introducing two new products.
ZO AOX Illuminating Serum – Is a new Retinol-free antioxidant serum that both provides maximum protection against pollution and premature signs of aging in the long term and provides luminosity and blurs skin imperfections in the short term. AOX stands for Antioxidant.
Key proprietary ingredients include ZOX12 a 12 hour time release antioxidant complex, ZO-RRS2 soothes visible redness, ZPOLY which infuses hydration and helps minimize sizes of aging. This product is designed to be used primarily in the morning after application of Daily Power Defense and followed by a zinc-based sunscreen.
ZO Second Generation Daily Power Defense – This has been a favorite of mine and one I use daily ever since it was released many years ago. This newest generation offers even more antioxidant and DNA repair enzyme activity than every before. It does include a very mild Retinol.
So, a great morning routine for ZO users would be Gentle Cleanser, followed by Daily Power Defense and Illuminating AOX Serum. Then, a good zinc-based sunscreen. Rosacea patients may also want to add Rozatrol prior to the Daily Power Defense. In the evening, I recommend Gentle Cleanser and the new Retinol Skin Brightener.
ZO Retinol Skin Brightener (0.025, 0.05 and 0.1%) – This product was actually introduced in the fall and if you’ve talked to me in person you know I am LOVING it. It has a decently potent retinol and skin brightening and pigment lightening using Bakuchiol. I started it in October, and it has done better on my freckles than anything I’ve used in years with minimal irritation. I am looking forward to seeing how well it keeps my freckles away during Spring and Summer.
A few other new standouts from other companies we love include…
Skin Better Science Alto ADVANCED Defense and Repair Serum – We started carrying SkinBetter products in the Spring Boutique a few years ago and the first generation of this product was one of the big reasons. Alto Defense Serum was scientifically proven to single handedly out perform all other Anti-Oxidant serums on the market at that time. Now, it’s even better. It contains Vitamin C, E and 17 other antioxidant ingredients. The new “Repair” portion includes ingredients for DNA repair, similar to what is in the new ZO AOX serum and both the previous and new generation of ZO Daily Power Defense. I would love to see a head to head study of these products!
If you are looking for a simple yet robust “bare-bones” regimen I like the ZO Gentle Cleanser twice a day, paired with Alto Defense & Repair in the morning followed by zinc-based sunscreen and AlphaRet at night. Simple and easy.
Colorescience Face Shield FLEX – This is a great lightweight mineral sunscreen. Previously variations of their Face Shield were BRONZE, MATTE and GLOW. I, and my preteen daughters, have particularly liked the GLOW. The FLEX variation is designed as a color adjusting, “matches any skin tone” product and comes in 4 shades. This is a lighter weight feel and coverage than my perennial personal favorite, Colorescience Tint Du Soleil. Maybe I’ll be a convert!
