What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved non-surgical, fat-reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat that resists all efforts through diet and exercise. The results are proven, noticeable, and lasting—so you’ll look great from every angle. It is proven safe and effective. We’ve been using CoolSculpting at Appalachian Spring Dermatology for several years and seen real results.
What is the procedure like? Controlled cooling is delivered via an applicator to freeze the targeted fat. Though you may feel intense cold initially, this feeling usually subsides within 5 to 10 minutes as the area numbs. Because most applicators use a vacuum to draw fatty tissue into the applicator, you may also feel some pulling, tugging, and/or mild pinching. The treated area is frozen for 35 minutes and then massaged after the treatment.
Is there any downtime? The CoolSculpting procedure is completely non-surgical, which makes returning to normal activities afterward a typically easy process. Often, patients even return to work and exercise soon after their CoolSculpting treatment. This is a great benefit as compared to liposuction.
Are there any side effects? During the procedure, you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations are very minimal and subside as the area becomes numb. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, the sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental area treatment. These effects are temporary and generally resolve within days or weeks. Though rare, some additional side effects may occur.
Am I a candidate for Coolsculpting? The CoolSculpting fat-reduction procedure is specially designed for those who have unwanted fat in targeted areas. Unlike weight-loss surgery (e.g., gastric bypass), the CoolSculpting procedure is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. Good candidates for the CoolSculpting procedure have noticeable bulges in certain areas that have been resistant to maintaining a healthy weight.
My Personal Journey: I started Weight Watchers over a year ago and I have lost a total of 25 pounds, I have changed my eating habits slightly and watched portion sizes carefully.
I did not do any exercise while I was on weight watchers, maybe a little walking, but with the CoolSculpting that I had done, everyone thought I had lost more than 25 pounds. It was a great feeling that people were noticing. I did not tell anyone, only my husband knew and I told him I didn’t want to tell anyone just to see if they would notice and if it was really working for me.
The experience with the staff and facility was great. They are very nice and positive. I encourage anyone to have CoolSculpting done. It is well worth it because it makes you feel good about yourself, your self-esteem is a lot higher, and you feel good on the outside as much as you do inside. It makes my heart smile more.
