What’s your favorite thing about Christmas?
The food? I love Christmas cookies. Now that I eat healthier, I don’t eat as many as I would like, but I still love them. My mom used to make what seemed like dozens of kinds and gift them when we were kids. Everyone looked forward to getting a tin of cookies from her. My other favorite, cranberry salad. I know, not what you would expect. I got an excellent recipe from a friend Nina Moore a few years ago, and I love it. I eat it for every meal, including breakfast if we have it in the house.
The music? When I was a kid, my mom had a real record player and one Christmas album. Maybe she had more, but I only remember her ever playing one. It was Andy William’s Christmas album and the first song was “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”. That song still makes me smile. You may even hear it play at the office this time of year. I have a ton of more recent favorites, and we’ll share a few on social media this week. Feel free to share your favorites as well. I love Christmas music. This time of year I’m stuck on KLOVE’s Christmas channel available on their app.
The lights? I love to look at them, not hang them. Our exterior of the house and office is devoid of lights and whistles, but I love looking at the lights. To see lots of lights close to home and support a great cause, I recommend the Celebration of Lights at Morris Park in Fairmont.
Jesus! As the lyrics of the kids song , Happy Birthday Jesus says, the “Real Gift is You” Jesus. My most favorite thing about Christmas is that it is a great time to freely speak about Jesus. In today’s culture, it is harder than ever to share the love of Jesus with others. But when you have experienced His love firsthand, it’s hard to not to share the best news ever! He loves us. He left heaven for us. He died for us. And He is waiting in heaven for us! This Christmas I hope you experience the love of Jesus in your life!
Merry Christmas to each of you!
