What in the World is a Lip Flip?

Okay, I realize I am getting old, and sometimes things in the media take me by surprise.  The most recent is the Lip Flip.  If you haven’t heard this term in advertising and promotions, maybe you’re old like me.  Nonetheless… here’s what it is!

[shareable]Turns out, I’ve been doing the “lip flip” for about 15 years now. I just wasn’t clever enough to give it a cute name and blow up social media. [/shareable]

The lip flip is a cosmetic procedure that uses BOTOX to relax the muscles around the mouth.  The particular goal is to keep the top lip from rolling in so much when a person smiles.  We do this by relaxing the muscle that encircles the mouth – the Orbicularis Oris – with a small amount of BOTOX.  This treatment allows the lip to “flip” or roll out and be more visible.

By relaxing the Orbicularis Oris we also reduce the appearance of lines in the entire area around the mouth.  To see all of the lines made by puckering, look in the mirror and pucker.  Voila!!  Every time you pucker – smoking, drinking out of a straw or bottle, chewing gum, or just pursing your lips – you make all of those lines worse every day.  Avoid all of those movements when possible; we can use BOTOX to do the rest.

We can also “flip” the lip using filler to allow more of the lip to show.  Depending on the patient’s need for volume, Dr. Rosenberger may use one or the other or both.  To see our results, check out the photos below.  I always try to give my patients subtle, natural results.

Cost of the BOTOX lip flip is $50-100 depending on the strength of a patient’s muscles.  Using BOTOX, the result lasts 3-4 months.  If you are interested in this simple, inexpensive procedure, make an appointment.  Dr. Rosenberger has 15 years of experience with the LIP FLIP!
